Enthusiastic to sharpen her reporting skills, Jovana assumed a second job reporting for the Orange County News Channel. She persisted to work both in Palm Springs and Orange County until she was employed to report by KNSD in San Diego. In her first year in San Diego, Jovana bested an Emmy for a story concerning a small village in Tijuana washed away in the 1997 mudslides of El Nino. Two other stories were correspondingly Emmy-nominated that year. Subsequently, she defeated recognition from the San Diego Press Club.
