Fales is a professional American football quarterback who has spent time playing in the National Football League (NFL). He was initially drafted by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft and went on to play for several other NFL teams over the course of his career.

Also, after being drafted by the Bears, Fales spent two seasons with the team as a backup quarterback, appearing in only one game and completing two of five passes for 22 yards. He was then released by the Bears and spent time on the practice squads of several other NFL teams, including the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, and Detroit Lions. Fales also had stints with the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers, where he saw limited playing time in backup roles.

After SJSU trailed Stanford 17–3 at halftime, Fales capped a third-quarter rally with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Noel Grigsby.
